Pavillion Design
Long Span Structures
Collab: Compition
Mentor: Mrs Tapan Deshpande, Mr Vijay Bhatia
Team: Aashita Jain, Anubha Jain, Nishiki Varma
Site: Juhu, Mumbai
Brief: The aim is to create a long span Structure and create a connection between two parted areas at the Juhu beach divided by a stream running in between. The surrounding fabric of the site is dense Koliwada which opens up into the sea edge with a temple in the vicinity. The proposed Pavillion acts as an interactive space to bridge the gap between different communities together and also acts as a centre for vocational learning.
Concept
Connectivity
The arrangement of the tetrahedral cells enables the structure to move in-plane, while it should be able to move out-of-plane. The structure moves out-of-plane and hence is able to transform into curved and double-curved surfaces. The tetrahedral structure has been built up from a triangulated grid. These grids are also well-known in applications for double-curved surfaces in architecture.
