Site: Sanjay Gandhi National Park, Mumbai
Brief: Sanjay Gandhi National Park occupying an area of 103.09sqkm lies partly in Thane district and partly in Mumbai suburban district. The park is one of the very few in the world that is surrounded by a metropolis like Mumbai yet sustaining a large variety of flora and fauna including several endangered species. There has been a substantial increase in the area under encroachment since earlier 1995.
The aim is to study and understand the ecological problems at the site being caused due to the encroachments. From the site study and SWOT analysis of the site, it is observed that their is a great need for River Water Management along with preservation of the ecology in the tourism permitted part of the park.
